欧盟方面已经准备好新的书面保证和解释，去帮助梅姨通过国会投票。
Leo Varadkar， Irish prime minister， has confirmed the EU is ready to provide new “written guarantees， explanations and assurances” to help Theresa May surmount huge opposition to her Brexit deal in the House of Commons next week.
爱尔兰首相补充说：“我们不想让英国陷入困境，我们希望立即开始讨论未来关系，我认为这是我们乐意给予的那种保证。”
He added： “We don’t want to trap the UK into anything — we want to get on to the talks about the future relationship right away. I think it’s those kind of assurances we are happy to give.”
当前脱欧协议能否在英国议会中获得通过的关键依然是棘手的北爱尔兰边境问题。
根据卫报引用的一位保守党高层的叙述，如果梅姨能够从欧盟获得法律方面的保证，确保英国（包括北爱尔兰）不会“无限期”留在欧盟保持关税联盟，那她将会得到北爱尔兰民主联盟党（DUP）的支持。
保守党的内阁部长和议员都认为，一旦梅姨能够获得DUP的支持，一些原本反对梅的保守党议员将改投赞成票，从而将大大增加脱欧协议在议会通过的可能性。
