据会议所提出的演习剧本，作祟的病源即为一种新型动物传人冠状病毒(a novel zoonotic coronavirus)，感染途径是从蝙蝠到猪再到人，最后有效人传人，终至严重的流行(transmitted from bats to pigs to people that eventually becomes efficiently transmissible from person to person， leading to a severe pandemic)。起先虽有些国家能控制病情，但病毒持续散播导入，最终没有国家能有效控制。(Although at first some countries are able to control it， it continues to spread and be reintroduced， and eventually no country can maintain control. )并称第一年不可能得到疫苗(There is no possibility of a vaccine being available in the first year. )，18个月后将有6500万人丧命(The scenario ends at the 18-month point， with 65 million deaths.)，病毒会持续肆虐到有效疫苗出现或八九成的地球人被感染过后(The pandemic will continue at some rate until there is an effective vaccine or until 80-90 % of the global population has been exposed. )。
显然，强调此番新型冠状病毒肺炎“证据确凿，病源非常清晰是野生动物”的爱丁堡皇家学会外籍院士、美国国家科学院外籍院士高福事先知道的远比“12月份即在密切接触者中发生了人际传播”要多得多。
